I have noticed that sometimes
children's workers have a tendency to use words and terms that the children do
not really understand. From time to time it is important that we check our
communication skills with our students. Here is a little test that you can have
some fun with. I have seen this test come close to bringing seminary students and aspiring
theologians to tears. Now everyone can tell you what Born Again, Justified,
Sanctification, Regeneration, Reconciliation, Atonement, Baptism, Repentance, Rapture,
the Church, Prophecy and other doctrinal and Biblical terms mean.............. or can
they?????
Make a list of the major
Christian Doctrines and Biblical terms that you hear mentioned in everyday
Church life. Now here is the challenge, you must define these terms in a
manner that 4 or 5 year olds can understand. That means you can use a
definition four to five words long and no word in the definition can have more
than two syllables. Have fun!!! (You might want to visit your local Christian
bookstore and invest in a Children's Bible Dictionary before you do this.)
